It also lets you book only one of them in advance. That turns a simple booking screen into a small family debate. Do you pick Peter Pan, Tiana’s, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder, or Space Mountain?

Our choice is Peter Pan’s Flight. That may not be the flashiest answer, but it usually saves us the most trouble.

Our first pick is Peter Pan’s Flight

We normally use our advance Tier 1 selection on Peter Pan. The standby line builds fast, the ride stays popular all day, and we would rather remove it from the list before we enter the park.

During spring and early summer 2026, Peter Pan normally sold out around 1:20 p.m. In July, it held until around 2:49 p.m. It also returned often after selling out.

So why not wait for a restock? You can. We still prefer to book it ahead of time because a Peter Pan Lightning Lane takes a painful standby line out of your day. That gives us more room to work with everything else.

Jungle Cruise is our second choice

When Peter Pan is not available, we look at Jungle Cruise.

Jungle Cruise usually sold out around 1:20 p.m. during spring and early summer. In July, it lasted until around 2:43 p.m. It came back on most sold-out days, but it did not restock as often as Tiana’s or Big Thunder.

The bigger issue is the return time. A ride may still appear in the app, but that does not mean the time works for your day. Jungle Cruise can stay bookable while the return window moves deep into the evening. That is why we like it as a backup advance choice.

We usually chase Tiana’s later

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure sells out earlier than Peter Pan and Jungle Cruise. It normally disappeared around noon during each tracked period. That makes it look like the obvious first pick. We usually do not use our advance slot on it.

We have always been able to grab Tiana’s during a restock window. The data supports that approach. Tiana’s returned on 99 to 100 percent of sold-out days during spring and summer. It restocked about eight to eleven times per day.

You still need to watch the app. A restock can appear and vanish quickly. But Tiana’s gives you more recovery chances than Peter Pan or Jungle Cruise. This is where knowing the difference between a sellout and a permanent sellout matters. A ride can disappear early and still be a good same-day target.

Big Thunder needs more time

Big Thunder Mountain was closed during our last several trips, so I do not have enough personal experience to pretend I know exactly where it belongs long term.

The 2026 data also comes with a warning. Big Thunder reopened in early May after a long refurbishment. During spring, it sold out in advance on 83 percent of sold-out days. By July, that dropped to 19 percent. That tells us the reopening rush started cooling down quickly.

Big Thunder also returned constantly after selling out. It averaged more than 15 restocks per sold-out day in July and more than 25 during spring. I would check current demand before moving it above Peter Pan. Do not assume a ride stays the hardest pick just because it was the hardest pick right after reopening.

Space Mountain can wait

Space Mountain feels like a first pick. It is one of the biggest names at Magic Kingdom, and the standby line can get ugly. We still save it for later.

Space Mountain was the last Magic Kingdom Tier 1 ride to sell out during every tracked period. Its typical sellout time moved from 4:22 p.m. in winter to 6:25 p.m. during spring. In July, it lasted until around 8:07 p.m.

We have always been able to pick it up later in the day. Using your only advance Tier 1 spot on Space Mountain can mean giving up Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise, or Tiana’s. That is a bad trade when Space Mountain may still be sitting there after dinner.

Our Magic Kingdom order

For most trips, this is our order.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Jungle Cruise

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Big Thunder Mountain

Space Mountain

That does not mean Tiana’s is less popular than Peter Pan. It means Tiana’s usually gives you more chances to recover after it disappears.

Your advance pick should not always go to the ride that sells out first. It should go to the ride that makes your day harder when you miss it.

How MouseQueue helps

This decision gets harder when ride demand changes from month to month.

MouseQueue.com uses real Lightning Lane availability data to help you choose your advance selections and plan what to grab after you enter the park.

Instead of using the same ranking for every trip, MouseQueue looks at which rides sell out early, which ones restock, and how your park dates change the odds.

That matters at Magic Kingdom because your best advance pick may not be the ride with the earliest sellout time.

For us, Peter Pan gets the first spot.

Then we let Lightning Lane availability guide the rest of the day.

Magic Kingdom gives you several strong Tier 1 Lightning Lane choices.
