Test Track, Frozen, or Remy Which EPCOT Lightning Lane Should You Pick First
EPCOT gives you three Tier 1 choices. Test Track sells out first. Frozen and Remy come back less often. You can only book one in advance. Now we have an actual problem.
The easy answer is Test Track because it disappears earliest. Our personal answer leans toward Remy or Frozen because we know how painful they can be to recover. Which risk bothers you more?
Test Track is hardest to book before the trip
Test Track disappears earlier than every other EPCOT Tier 1 ride. It sold out in advance on 51 percent of sold-out spring dates and 53 percent of July dates. During winter, it sold out early on 80 percent of tracked days. When it survived into the park day, it usually disappeared around 9:15 to 9:40 a.m.
That gives Test Track the strongest case for your one advance Tier 1 selection. Off-property guests face even more pressure. Test Track was already gone when their booking window opened on 15 percent of spring dates and 6 percent of July dates. If you want the safest answer, pick Test Track first. But that is not the end of the story.
Test Track also gives you more second chances
Test Track came back about seven or eight times per sold-out day. It returned on more than 80 percent of sold-out days during every tracked period. That does not make it easy. It does mean missing Test Track in advance may not end your chances.
You can watch for a restock after tapping into your first Lightning Lane. You may also find a later return time as other guests change their plans. Frozen and Remy do not give you the same safety net.
Remy has burned us before
We often give Remy the advance spot. We have missed it before, then spent way too much time frantically refreshing the app. It never came back. That experience sticks with you.
Remy normally sold out around 10:20 a.m. during spring and around 10:50 a.m. in July. It held later than Test Track, but it returned far less often. During spring, Remy came back on 58 percent of sold-out days. In winter, it returned on only 20 percent. July improved to 75 percent, but that still left days with no second chance.
That is why we do not treat Remy as an easy same-day pickup. A later sellout time can look safer than it really is.
Frozen has the same weakness
Frozen Ever After normally disappeared around 10 a.m. Like Remy, it rarely sold out before the off-property booking window opened. The trouble starts after it sells out.
Frozen came back on 55 percent of sold-out spring days and 63 percent of July days. During winter, it returned on only 15 percent. Once Frozen disappears, you may not see it again. That makes Frozen a strong advance choice for families who care more about avoiding risk than chasing the earliest sellout.
So which one should you pick
There are two smart answers. Pick Test Track when your main goal is securing the ride that disappears first. Pick Remy or Frozen when your main goal is protecting yourself from a ride that may never return.
Our personal choice usually comes down to Remy or Frozen. We know Test Track restocks more often. We also know what it feels like to spend the day refreshing for Remy and get nothing. That pushes us toward using the advance spot on the ride with fewer recovery chances.
