Best Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane to Pick First in 2026
Hollywood Studios makes this easy.
Book Slinky Dog Dash.
You only get one Tier 1 Lightning Lane in advance, and no other ride at the park comes close.
Do not get cute with it. Do not book Millennium Falcon because your child likes Star Wars. Do not grab Runaway Railway because the return time looks better. Book Slinky first.
Slinky disappears before the park day
Slinky Dog Dash sold out in advance on 96 percent of sold-out days during spring and early summer 2026. On average, it disappeared 4.6 days before the park date. In July, it became a little easier. It still sold out in advance on 82 percent of days and disappeared about 2.9 days ahead.
That means Slinky can vanish before many guests get a chance to book it. We never play games with this one. Slinky always gets our Tier 1 advance spot.
Off-property guests face the biggest risk
Disney Resort guests can book earlier than guests staying off-property. That difference matters more for Slinky than any other Hollywood Studios Tier 1 ride.
During spring and early summer, Slinky was already unavailable when the off-property booking window opened on 49 percent of tracked dates. In July, it was gone at that moment on 18 percent of dates.
Spring was basically a coin flip. You may open the app at the first possible moment and still find nothing. That is not because you were slow. The inventory may have disappeared days earlier.
Restocks are the backup plan
Slinky comes back often after selling out. It restocked about 21 times per sold-out day during spring and returned on 99 percent of those days. In July, it returned on every sold-out day in the data. That sounds great. It does not mean you should skip it during advance booking.
A Slinky restock can disappear almost as soon as it appears. Everyone who missed it is watching the same screen. Use restocks as your second chance. Do not build your main plan around winning a thumb race against half the park.
Muppets Coaster comes next
Muppets Coaster normally sold out around noon during spring and July. It also returned on 88 to 92 percent of sold-out days. That makes it a good same-day target after you tap into your first Lightning Lane. It does not make it a better advance pick than Slinky.
The ride also reopened around May 2026 after its change from Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. Its early numbers include a reopening rush, so demand may keep cooling. Grab it later when the return time fits your day.
Runaway Railway gives you time
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway lasted much longer. It normally sold out around 3:35 p.m. during spring and early summer. In July, it held until around 5:13 p.m. That gives you plenty of time to grab it after entering the park.
You may even have time to tap into an early Tier 2 ride, unlock the full ride list, and then book Runaway Railway. Why burn your only advance Tier 1 choice on a ride that may still be there in the afternoon?
Millennium Falcon should wait
Millennium Falcon looks like a first-pick ride. It has a giant spaceship, a famous name, and several buttons your family will press at the wrong time. Its Lightning Lane lasts much longer than the other Tier 1 rides.
During spring and July, Millennium Falcon normally stayed available until around 8:30 p.m. That makes it the easiest Tier 1 choice at Hollywood Studios. You can usually pick it up much later. Using your advance slot on Millennium Falcon while Slinky disappears would be like saving a seat for dessert and throwing away dinner.
The Hollywood Studios order
This one is simple.
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Muppets Coaster
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon
Slinky gets the advance spot. Everything else becomes a same-day target after you tap into your first Lightning Lane.
How MouseQueue helps after Slinky
The first choice is easy. The rest of your Hollywood Studios day can change fast.
MouseQueue.com uses real Lightning Lane availability data to help you choose what to book next. It shows plans based on which rides normally disappear early, which ones return, and where you can afford to wait.
That keeps you from grabbing Millennium Falcon too soon while Muppets Coaster or Runaway Railway starts running low.
The Disney app gives you the pieces.
MouseQueue helps you put them in a better order. Plan your trip here: https://mousequeue.com/plan-trip
Final answer
Book Slinky Dog Dash first. There is no real debate at Hollywood Studios. The other Tier 1 rides give you time.
Slinky may disappear before your booking window even opens. Grab it when you can. Then start playing the rest of the Lightning Lane game.
