Even better, that 14-minute average was almost identical to the full 2025 party season, which averaged 13 minutes across 37 nights.
So this does not look like one lucky opening night. Shorter ride waits continue to be one of the biggest perks of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The more interesting part, though, may be what happened before the party started. Magic Kingdom was also quieter during the day, averaging 24 minutes compared with 31 on a normal day.
MNSSHP 2026 Wait Times Look a Lot Like 2025
Opening night in 2026 was slightly busier than the average party night last year, but not by much. The park-wide average was 14 minutes this year compared with 13 minutes across the 2025 season.
That matters because opening night can sometimes be weird. You get people eager to be first, bloggers everywhere, and guests trying to knock the event out early in the season. Even with that, the wait-time pattern looked very familiar.

TRON is the obvious attention-grabber. It averaged 42 minutes during the party compared with 88 on a normal evening. That is still a real wait, but cutting TRON by more than half is hard to ignore.
The better story may be everything underneath it. Big Thunder, Tiana’s, Buzz, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and several other rides were easy to fit into the night without giving up a huge chunk of party time. That matters at MNSSHP because rides are only part of what you are trying to do. You also have the parade, fireworks, characters, trick-or-treating, food, and all the other Halloween stuff competing for the same five hours.
If you decide to squeeze in a ride between party activities, shorter standby waits make that decision a lot easier.
There Is No Lightning Lane During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Lightning Lane was completely shut off during the party. That means every wait in the table above was standby. You are not watching a steady stream of Lightning Lane guests move past you while your line crawls forward.
For somebody like me who spends way too much time playing the Lightning Lane game, it is kind of refreshing. You see the line, decide if the wait is worth it, and get in. Very old school.
Magic Kingdom Was Quieter Before the Party Too
This may be the most useful part of the data if you are planning a full Disney World trip.
Before the party started, Magic Kingdom averaged 24-minute standby waits from park opening through 6 PM. A normal Magic Kingdom day averages about 31 minutes.
That lighter pattern showed up on a lot of major rides too.

The shorter park day likely keeps some regular guests away. If you are not attending the party, you know you are getting kicked out at 6 PM. For some families, that is enough reason to choose another park.
That creates a useful tradeoff. You lose the evening, but the daytime can be easier.
If you have Park Hopper or you are happy to move to another park later, a MNSSHP day can be a very smart Magic Kingdom choice.
The Lightning Lane Catch on Party Days
Lower standby waits do not mean Lightning Lane is easier across the board. Because regular park hours end earlier, there are fewer Lightning Lane return windows available during the day. That caused several Multi Pass rides to close out earlier than they normally do.
Winnie the Pooh first became unavailable around 10:20 AM compared with a normal average around 2:20 PM. Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan also reached their first unavailable periods more than two hours earlier than usual. So if you are using Multi Pass on a party day, I would be more aggressive with your early selections. Do not assume a ride that usually hangs around into the afternoon will still be there.
TRON was the odd exception. Its Lightning Lane Single Pass stayed available until around 11:15 AM, while its normal average sellout time is closer to 9:38 AM. Seven Dwarfs behaved much closer to normal. That is one of those Disney planning quirks that looks backwards at first. The park is quieter, but some Lightning Lanes disappear faster because Disney has less day to sell.
Is MNSSHP Good If You Want to Ride Attractions?
Based on opening night, yes.

I would not buy a Halloween party ticket only to ride attractions. You are paying for a lot more than that. But low waits make it much easier to mix rides into everything else you want to do without feeling like you wasted half your party standing in line.
That is probably the better way to look at it. The party is not just giving you shorter waits. It is giving you more freedom with your time.
